Yilin Zhang(b.1998)

Yilin Zhang (b. 1998, China) lives and works between Shanghai, London, and Athens (USA). She is currently pursuing a PhD in Art at the University of Georgia, and previously earned her MA from the Royal College of Art (UK) and her BFA from the China Academy of Art. Her practice centers on painting and drawing, and also spans printmaking, installation, performance, participatory workshops, and fiction. As a mystic and astrologer, Zhang’s work draws upon her cross-cultural life experience to explore themes such as mysticism, trauma, myth, folk healing, paranormal studies, science fiction, and Gothic literature through a comparative and intuitive lens. Her practice focuses on the traumatic and subjective experiences of the Other, using spirituality, irrationality, and perception as strategies for ongoing healing and acts of re-enchantment.
